Wednesday Card Inspiration

Wednesday Card Inspiration

Today’s card is by Julie Ebersole and can be seen at EllenHutson.  The reason I chose this card is because it’s a good “make in a hurry” card.

What makes this card work?

1.       Simple Color-Tone on tone is a classic theme that is always a winner

2.       Texture- The embossing really shines because there is nothing else to grab your attention. It's not just the texture of the embossed panel, there is also the texture of the layers. If this card was flat, one layer, and only embossed it wouldn't be near as pretty or effective. This card would look good using another color but white is really the best choice. As a side note, if you decided to use color I would use a lighter color and a solid. Because you want to maintain a minimalist look and you want the texture to be prominent.

3.       Color Pop- Using just a little color for the title give your eye a place to go. Also the color helps it to pop off the whiteness of the card. If the title were stamped in black it wouldn’t be near as effective.

4.       Dimensional embellishment- the butterflies are very small so the minimalist look is still maintains. Yet they give the card a bit more texture, depth and add a touch of whimsy.  A second choice could be a die cut flower, three tiny buttons or a row of pearls or crystals.

Next time you want to try something new try using this card as your inspiration.  Be sure to Toot Your Horn and show us all your creation.
